Floyd VINELink Release Coverage

Virginia VINE through VINELink covers New River Valley Regional Jail and other Virginia local and regional jails. The Virginia VINE FAQ says all such jails participate. That makes it the correct notification layer for a person held at NRVRJ after a Floyd arrest. A status search can be performed without registering for alerts, and registration is free.

The boundary is just as important. VINELink does not provide the VADOC state-prison notification program. Virginia uses NAAVI for eligible victims of people in Department of Corrections custody. Nor does VINELink cover the federal Bureau of Prisons. A local VINE record may end when the person transfers to VADOC or another system, even though custody continues. Choose the tool based on the custodian, not merely the county where the case began.

Search Floyd Inmates on VINELink

This is a one-person check, not a public list of recent Floyd County releases. Begin with the exact name and any known booking or offender identifier. Similar names are common. Compare the matching record's facility and identifiers before reading the status. A Virginia selection is also essential because VINELink serves many states, and the same name may appear in more than one jurisdiction.

1. Open VINELink and choose Virginia. Confirm the state before entering identity details.
2. Search by the person's name. Add a booking or offender identifier when the interface permits and the number is known.
3. Review all possible matches. Compare the name, identifier, facility, and other available identity details.
4. Open only the matching custody record, then read the status and facility together.
5. Cross-check a reported event against the NRVRJ Release Date, the Floyd court disposition, and any receiving system.

A missing match does not prove release. The spelling may differ, the record may have moved to another custodian, the person may never have entered a participating jail, or the source may be updating. Floyd VINELink Release Fields

VINELink is an event and status source. The research supports a name-based custody record, the holding facility or custody status, and notification registration. Exact labels can change as the service updates. Do not add a projected date or claim a field that does not appear in the live record. The purpose is to determine what the participating jail currently reports about one person and to learn when that record changes.

A VINE release event confirms that the jail feed reported an event. It does not always mean return to the community. The official Virginia VINE workflow specifically warns that a release notice may represent transfer. Compare it with the NRVRJ public result, which can display a Release Date, and with the receiving system when movement to VADOC or another jail is possible.

Note: Read facility and event together; a changed jail record may mark transfer rather than the end of all physical custody.

Register Floyd Release Notifications

Registration follows the matching person's custody record. Select Get Notified or Register, then choose among the contact methods currently offered. Virginia's materials describe telephone, text, email, and TTY options. Multiple telephone numbers or email addresses may be registered. Use contact details that the intended recipient controls.

1. Open the correct Virginia custody record and choose the notification registration control.
2. Select phone, text, email, or TTY as offered, then enter the requested contact information.
3. For a telephone registration, create a private four-digit PIN and do not share it.
4. When VINE calls from 1-800-467-4943, enter the PIN to acknowledge receipt of the notice.
5. If the PIN is forgotten, call 1-800-467-4943 and press 0 for assistance.

The PIN is part of telephone acknowledgment. The Virginia VINE brochure says calls may continue until someone answers and enters the PIN or until 24 hours passes. A person can run a status search without registering. If someone leaves on bond and later returns to jail, the old registration may not restart automatically, so check the current record and renew the registration when needed.

Events for local jail VINE commonly include release, transfer, death, and escape. Some jails may also report work release or home electronic monitoring, but local availability varies and was not established for NRVRJ. Once the person is released, ordinary custody updates stop. A notification is therefore a prompt to verify, not an ongoing account of life after custody.

Keep the PIN separate from the person's name and record details. Anyone who answers a registered telephone may hear the automated call, but the private PIN acknowledges the notice. If a call is missed, check the matching record directly rather than relying on a saved voice message. The official support number can assist with a forgotten PIN, while questions about the reported custody event belong to NRVRJ or the agency named in the record.

Three Floyd Notification Layers

Virginia has three registrations that do not carry into one another. The first is jail VINE for local and regional custody. The second is NAAVI, the victims-only VADOC notification system. The third is a separate State Police sex-offender-registry notification layer for people who have a legal duty to register. These services have different eligibility, data, and purposes.

A transfer from NRVRJ to VADOC is the critical Floyd County handoff. Local VINE registration does not move with the person. An eligible victim must register again through NAAVI or contact VADOC Victim Services at 800-560-4292. VADOC lists events that can include transfer, advance release, actual release, death, name change, work release, escape and recapture, a parole interview, and a parole decision. Actual release ends VADOC custody notifications, though community supervision may still follow.

The split means a Floyd County registration must be renewed in the right system whenever custody moves across the jail and state-prison boundary.

Floyd VADOC Release Alerts

NAAVI is not an alternate public locator for anyone who wants to search a state prisoner. It is a victim-notification system with eligibility and registration rules. The public status route is the VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator, which covers people in VADOC custody or under supervision. A district-office location may show that a person is physically out of prison but still on probation or parole. An institution or jail location points to continued custody.

For eligible victim notifications, use VADOC Victim Services and NAAVI. The program is separate from jail VINE and requires its own registration. VADOC's public locator updates daily, so a result can lag the underlying event. It is also not described as a permanent archive of fully discharged people. Release paperwork, a signed order, or a direct VADOC record can provide stronger proof when the public result no longer appears.

These state-custody notices complement local VINE but do not duplicate or inherit a prior jail registration.

Confirm Floyd VINELink Releases

VINELink can lag and does not cover every custody system. If NRVRJ reports release, compare the jail's Release Date and call 540-643-2000 when destination is unclear. The Floyd County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Brian Craig on the research date, can route questions about the courthouse lockup. Search the Floyd court case for the order or disposition behind the event. General District Court handles misdemeanors and felony preliminary stages, while Circuit Court handles felony trials and appeals. A court order explains legal authority, but the jail confirms physical processing.

If state transfer or supervision is plausible, use VADOC. For sentenced federal custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator. A BOP result showing a past Release Date or RELEASED means the person is no longer in BOP custody, not necessarily free from supervision or another hold. For current immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator. USMS prisoner operations and pretrial custody may require the federal court, holding facility, or a records request rather than BOP.

Virginia law also provides a different requested-notice route for qualifying victims of certain local prisoners. Section 53.1-133.02 requires notice before release or discharge for a prisoner sentenced to more than 30 days when a qualifying victim or designee requests it, along with prompt notice after specified events. That statutory notice is not a public recent-release list and does not expand VINELink into state or federal custody.

A useful verification pairs two independent records. Examples include a VINE event with the NRVRJ Release Date, a local event with a new receiving-jail record, or a reported state transfer with a VADOC institutional location. Conflicting dates may reflect legal authorization, physical processing, or a later data update. Resolve the difference with the office that created the disputed entry instead of choosing the newest screen by default.
