Floyd 24-Hour Release Route
No separate official Floyd County 24-hour release feed was found. The Floyd County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Brian Craig on the research date, and New River Valley Regional Jail do not offer a reverse-chronological page showing everyone who left today. There is no verified download, date filter, or sheriff jail app that fills that role. The official local substitute is the NRVRJ inmate lookup. It searches a known person and includes an option labeled Include released inmates. That distinction matters. A current roster alone can lose the name as soon as the custody episode ends, while the released-record option can return a past result with a Release Date.
This is not a hidden list. It cannot answer an open request for every person released from Floyd County custody in one click. It can answer whether a specific known person has a matching regional-jail record and whether that record displays a date within the last day. Floyd County also has a courthouse lockup. Someone processed there may have been released locally or transported to NRVRJ, so the Sheriff's Office remains a needed first call when the regional record does not fit the known facts.
Check Floyd Same-Day Releases
Start with the person, not a claimed feed. The NRVRJ interface has two paths. One uses first name, last name, and date of birth. The other accepts a Booking Number, Permanent Number, State ID, County ID, FBI Number, or ICE Number. An identifier can reduce a namesake error. Both paths expose the released-inmate checkbox, and both should be read as a search of jail records rather than a list of today's departures.
- Open the official lookup through the NRVRJ inmates hub if the direct page on its nonstandard port will not load.
- Enter the exact name and date of birth, or use a known jail or agency identifier. Select Include released inmates before submitting.
- Compare the name, date of birth, Booking Number, and Permanent ID. Record the displayed Release Date only after the identity fields align.
- Check Virginia VINE for the custody event and the Floyd court record for bond, dismissal, sentence, or another legal action.
- Call NRVRJ at 540-643-2000 when the result is absent, unclear, or may describe a transfer. Ask which agency now holds the relevant record.
The direct lookup uses HTTP and port 8085, so some networks may block it. That technical failure says nothing about custody. Entering through the official jail site or calling the facility avoids turning a connection problem into a false release conclusion. Note: Absence from a live roster is not proof of release; the person may have transferred, aged out of view, or never entered that system.
Floyd 24-Hour Record Fields
The observed NRVRJ result is narrow. It gives enough data to connect a person to a custody episode and compare a date with the last 24 hours. It does not show the complete release story. The lookup did not publish a release reason, exact release time, destination, supervision status, or photograph in the examined list. Its update cadence and historical retention period are also not stated.

The interface supports exact-person verification, but its fields do not turn it into a chronological Floyd County release list.
Floyd Release Time Is Unpublished
NRVRJ and the Floyd County Lockup publish no routine release hours, exact exit point, or promised posting schedule. A court order may authorize release without showing the hour when jail processing ends. Identity checks, property handling, another warrant, a detainer, or transfer paperwork can separate legal authorization from physical departure. For the same reason, a date added after processing may not appear at the instant someone walks out.
A separate statewide fact should not be copied onto the local facilities. The Virginia Department of Corrections release procedure says a prison discharge or parole release occurs by 11:59 p.m. on the release date, weather permitting. That rule concerns a VADOC prison release. It is not an NRVRJ or Floyd County Lockup deadline. When timing is urgent, call the facility holding the person and ask whether release processing is complete.
Note: A state-prison processing deadline cannot establish when a person leaves the regional jail or the Floyd courthouse lockup.
Floyd Bond Release Categories
A same-day Floyd County release may follow a bond decision, but the type changes what the event means. The NRVRJ bonding and bail page distinguishes personal recognizance, unsecured bond, secured bond, and ineligible status. Personal recognizance permits release on the person's promise to appear. An unsecured bond sets an amount that is not paid unless the person fails to appear. A secured bond requires the approved security before release. Ineligible status means release on bond is not then available.
Once a person has been committed, NRVRJ staff cannot lower the bond or arrange recognizance. The jail also says its staff cannot recommend a bondsman. A judge controls changes after commitment when judicial action is required. Most important, release on bond is pretrial release. The criminal case remains active, and bond does not mean the charge was dismissed or a sentence was served.

Floyd Released-Record Data Quirk
Floyd's distinctive feature is a checkbox, not a feed. The search can preserve access to a released record that no longer belongs on a current-custody roster. Yet the jail does not say how fast the result updates or how long the released entry stays visible. A person released hours ago might not appear at once. An older release might remain searchable, but no public rule promises that it will. The Release Date must therefore be compared with the requested window instead of treating every returned record as a same-day event.
Virginia VINE through VINELink adds a separate event check for local and regional jails. A VINE release notice may still describe a transfer, so compare its facility and status with the NRVRJ date. If state custody is plausible, use the VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator. A district-office result can indicate physical release with supervision, while an institution or jail location means custody continues. Federal sentenced custody belongs in the BOP Inmate Locator. Request Floyd Same-Day Records
When a true date-bounded list is needed, ask the custodian for an existing record. A narrow request should identify the date range and seek the release fields the agency already maintains. For one person, include the full name, date of birth, and booking number if known. Ask for the booking or admission date and time, releasing facility, release date and time, release type or destination if maintained, releasing authority, and any nonexempt transfer destination. Also request the written retention policy for released entries.
The Floyd County FOIA page accepts requests in person, by mail, email, fax, or telephone. The county may charge actual access, search, duplication, and supply costs. It can require payment before delivery after an estimate and agreement. No fixed release-record rate was found.
NRVRJ may hold the regional booking and release entry. Its public FOIA page gives no detailed procedure, so call 540-643-2000 and ask for the records custodian. Virginia law permits some material to be withheld, including certain investigative, supervision, juvenile, sealed, or expunged information. Ask for all nonexempt portions rather than demanding an agency create a new explanation.
